NEWPORT - Gus Ragsdale, 96, of Newport departed this life Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016.
He was born Sept. 12, 1920, to James and Eunice Cloud Ragsdale. He was a member of the Church of Christ an World War II Air Force veteran.
Mr. Ragsdale enjoyed fishing, farming, westerns, mechanic work, flying and swinging on the porch swing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lannas Ragsdale; sisters, Tymn James, Jymn Ragsdale, Mercedes Roden and Bonnie Lee Mobley.
His survivors are his wife of 63 years, Louise Ragsdale of Newport; daughters, Brenda Stegall (Perry) of Newport and Susan Brantley (Bruce) of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; grandchildren, Tisha Cox, Payton Stegall, Brent Stegall, Brooke Brantley Llewellyn, Kali Brantley Orr, Rachael Erin Watson and Joel Watson; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Cox, Teagan Cox, Destin Orr and Sonny Crawford; and nieces and nephews, Betty Roden, Ron James, George Ragsdale, Dennis Ragsdale, Willa Jean Ragsdale Babb, Butch Welch and Rusty Welch.
