Veterans Honor Guard members recognized

Crossville Chronicle - 8/30/2016

The Veterans Honor Guard Inc. is an organization of veteran volunteers who have the desire to honor fellow veterans by rendering military funeral honors to those who have served honorably in the armed forces, both in peace time and in war. This is the final demonstration a grateful nation can provide to the veteran and his or her family.

Lehman Riggs, a veteran of the World War II Battle of the Bulge, participated in more than 700 honor services since 2012. Harry Craig achieved 600 honor services while Charlie McCoy and Ralph Kin each achieved 200 honor services. Gary Bodenstein has completed 100 honor services.

Since Jan. 1, 2016, the unit has participated in 130 honor services, raising the total honors to more than 3,275.

Veterans Honor Guard Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization and a DOD certified provider for military honors. Members are from Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and National Guard, ranging in age from 38 to 96. To join the ranks, veterans must have served in any branch of U.S. military and received a discharge under honorable conditions.
