BRIEF: Send a veteran a card this season

Fergus Falls Daily Journal (MN) - 12/19/2014

Dec. 19--Addressing the annual family Christmas cards can be a chore, but the local veterans' home is asking everyone to add a couple names to the list of recipients.

Sending a Christmas card to a veteran is a great way to let them feel remembered during the Christmas season.

"(The veterans) appreciate all the extra attention," said Mark Kitzman, a recreation therapist at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home about the Christmas cards. "They feel honored and appreciated. It's a great thing."

To send a card to a veteran, simply address it "To a Veteran" and mail it to either of the following addresses:

--Fergus Falls Veterans Home, 1821 N Park St, Fergus Falls, MN 56537-1247

--Fargo VA Health Care System, 2101 Elm St N, Fargo, ND 58102

You can also send a card to a recovering soldier. Cards can be addressed "To a Recovering American Soldier," and sent to care of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 6900 Georgia Ave. NW, Washington DC 20307-5001.
