English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church to host depression seminar

Sept. 20--Lodi English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church will host a depression recovery seminar on Monday.

Dr. Neil Nedley, author and practicing physician, will lead the eight-week program. It centers around a DVD presentation by Nedley and gives information on how to make lifestyle changes to prevent and recover from depression.

Dr. George Chen said the information presented in the seminar is priceless and details the 10 things that put people at risk for depression, as well as natural remedies for a lasting cure.

"This seminar provides the very best available information I know of to put a smile back on the faces of Lodians," he said.

Topics of the program will cover overcoming depression, how to achieve a healthy sense of worth, coping skills, finding motivation to achieve goals, how to help friends or family members with depression, depression prevention, stress control, general health knowledge, professional development and achieving optimal mental health.

Nedley is the author of "Depression: The Way Out," "Proof Positive" and "The Lost Art of Thinking."

He is also a physician in internal medicine with an emphasis in gastroenterology, mental health and lifestyle medicine.

The seminar will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Monday through Nov. 10 at the church, 1260 W. Century Blvd.
